Our dentist and staff understand that good oral health and habits start at childhood. We will work with parents to ensure their children are taking good care of their teeth at home. We will also monitor their mouths at periodic exams for any problems so we can catch them early. If needed, we will work with your children’s primary doctor to treat any problems we find. We will also provide a referral for orthodontics if necessary.
Routine dental cleanings
We recommend routine dental cleanings for several reasons. When we perform a professional cleaning, we remove the buildup of plaque and tartar which cause gingivitis. We also educate you and your child on how to brush and floss. After the cleaning, we will polish your child’s teeth so that they shine! We can also apply a fluoride treatment, if necessary, to help prevent tooth decay.
Dental sealant is a plastic coating painted on teeth. It seals the rough edges and grooves that typically attract and embed plaque and food. It gives your child’s teeth a protective coating, helping prevent tooth decay. Sealants are usually done on permanent back teeth since they are hard to reach. Even if your child brushes and flosses properly, he or she may miss some areas. For this reason, sealants are a good way to protect your child’s teeth.
